Fileds barns, and family farms. It's heritage, hard work, generations of stories and it's
something worth holding onto.

In Whitehall, Pennsylvania, "Historic Peter Grim Homestead 1834" shows off one of the area's important old properties, all listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Bradley Boyer, a modern Pennsylvania Impressionist who follows in Walter Baum's footsteps, really captures the feel of the red brick farmhouse, 200 year old barn, chicken coop, and the grounds around them.

He uses a shadowed foreground to great effect, pulling the viewer into a world of bright colors, depth, and rich history.

The whole thing is made even better by an English-style flower garden from the 1800s and a rustic fence that guides your eye through the scene, letting you see the light on the brickwork, the bright plants, and the big sky.

This piece is a fantastic chance to own a part of a National Historic Landmark, plus you can really appreciate its important artistic connections, solidifying its place in the amazing tradition of American Impressionism.

LENAPE STREAM SERIES BRADLEY BOYER PENNSYLVANIA IMPRESSIONIST The Baum School of Art's 41st Annual Art Auction, taking place

This series of Pennsylvania Impressionist landscapes, the Lenape Woodland Streams, shows Boyer's deep connection to the wooded waterways of eastern Pennsylvania. He captures the light, reflections, and moving water with real feeling. Painted outside, like the French and American Impressionists, these pieces show not just the land, but also the feeling of it – the quiet of a stream, the moving leaves, and how light dances on the water. Boyer's way with moving water is great, like Edward Redfield, who was known for his streams and seasonal scenes. He doesn't just show the water, he makes it alive, connecting the sky, trees, and banks. The series also shows Boyer's training in Paris, where he learned direct observation, color, and painting techniques from the Impressionists. The paintings are immediate and well-made, with a good balance of energy and skill. They're in hand-carved, gilded Craftsman frames, made by a top framemaker, with details on the back showing their history and quality. These paintings are for collectors who appreciate art and history. Boyer's success is also shown by his auction sales, including "Spring in the Valley," which sold for $13,750 at the Baum School Art Auction in July 2022, and was mentioned in Antiques and The Arts Weekly. For collectors of American landscape painting, the Lenape Woodland Streams series is a great example of the Pennsylvania Impressionist style – pieces that capture place, memory, and atmosphere, done with the skill of a true plein-air painter.

Autumn on Hokendauqua depicts a historically significant site in Northampton, Pennsylvania, associated with the Walking Purchase and the Lenape people. A brightly colored historic grist mill anchors the composition. The painting reflects the methods of Fern Coppedge through clear color, direct brushwork, and a strong sense of place.

Provenance, Craftsmanship, and Painting the Landscape in One Go

For collectors who value more than decoration, a painting can hold the weight of place, craft, and history. My training at the Académie Julian in Paris gave me a deep foundation in classical painting and direct observation.

I work in the plein air tradition, one of the things that defines my approach is that I often complete a painting in one session working wet-into-wet from start to finish, much like Edward Redfield. This method creates movement and vitality that can't be recreated later in the studio.

For me, it is the best way to capture the three dimensional character of the subject. Shifting light on water, trees, architecture, and fields before the moment changes.

My painting 36 x 36 oil on canvas, Spring in the Valley, achieved $13,750 at the Baum School Art Auction in July 2022 and was noted among notable prices in Antiques and The Arts Weekly.

My work is often paired with hand-carved gilded frames by a world-renowned framemaker, Craftsman Handcarved Frames with inscriptions on the verso that contribute to provenance and long-term value. For present and future generations too enjoy!
